Habitat for Humanity
MCA members can partner with Habitat for Humanity to build or improve a home for a family in need. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. Since there is a wide variety of different jobs that are needed, the volunteer will be able to choose the job that maximizes his abilities and yet stays within his comfort level.
With our help, Habitat homeowners achieve the strength, stability and independence they need to build a better life for themselves and their families. In the past, this has proven to be one of the most popular volunteer activity among MCA membership, but more help is needed!
For additional information contact Howard Greenfield.

MCA Kayaking
Every Friday at 8:30 AM
MCA Kayakers paddle on Friday mornings. We usually launch from a different venue and/or explore a different track every week during our 30-week season. Most of the launch sites are within easy driving distance, and our members often carpool. The kayak adventure usually includes a beach stop for a picnic lunch, or we stop at a nearby restaurant afterwards. We generally launch around 8:30 am, and you can expect to be home by early to mid afternoon.
We accept all MCA members with some kayaking experience into our group, which usually numbers around 15-20 paddlers each week. If you don’t have kayaking experience, we will refer you to local certified instructors who will provide a kayak and help you develop the necessary skills. Safety and skill development is especially important to our group.
You can even borrow a kayak and necessary gear when you first start paddling with MCA. However, all paddlers in the group soon buy their own suitable kayak (whether new or used) and must be able to transport their kayak to the local launch sites. Refer to the above picture to see the types of kayaks used by the MCA members.
Come join us – it’s great fun, great exercise and a great way to meet people!
To register contact Bob Lubin .
Note: Kayakers must demonstrate their ability to safely kayak before being able to paddle with the group.
