    MCA  Movie
    Discussion Group

Enjoy eating? Enjoy movies? Enjoy an energetic discussion?  Join us for our MCA Film Discussion Group.

Each month, the 'movie selection committee' chooses a movie-of-the month, which all members see at their leisure.  Then, we meet at host couples' houses for our discussion and food!

We do try to have a food topic that goes with the movie when possible.  Members have enjoyed this idea over the last few years.  Some people are extremely creative!

The size of each group is limited, based on the number of couples who can host each month.  We usually need 4 or 5 hosts per month.  Group size depends on the size of the homes.

As members become more comfortable with the group, we encourage people to volunteer their homes.  It is not fair for us to always rely on the same people to host.

If you wish to register but find yourself on the waitlist, please contact Spencer to include you.

    Keewaydin

    Island Adventure

    Registration opens 1/30/26

    A coed event

Travel by boat to Keewaydin Island – a beautiful barrier island between Naples and Marco Island – accessible only by boat. There you will be able to take that long romantic walk on the beach that you’ve dreamed about; lounge in the sun;  play beach games; or even bring your fishing gear. Or, you can simply relax under a beach umbrella with a refreshing beverage and watch the waves. Our route takes us past the inlets of Port Royal, which could be a side trip if desired.

We get to Keewaydin Island by rental boats and private boats. In prior years, several dozen MCA members and spouses participated, so this is a real beachapalooza! It’s a terrific outing! Boating experience is not required... nor is beach experience.

For those who do not have access to a private boat, we rent 12 person pontoon boats at the Naples Marina at Bayfront (Goodlette and 41)The cost of the rental boats is $50/person.  Boat rental fees are refundable only up to March 20th, or on March 29th due to inclement weather. If you have no boating experience, we have enough MCA members with boat captain experience, so you can just relax as a passenger and enjoy the trip.

Please note: We will be monitoring Red Tide and we may need to cancel if levels are high in the area on the day of the trip.

    Nazi Town, USA

    Emmy Nominated Film

We will be joined by writer and director, Peter Yost

(Son of MCA member Murray Yost)

    Registration opens 3/4/2026

Nazi Town, USA" details the chilling story of the German American Bund, a pro-Nazi movement active in the United States during the 1930s. Operating across the nation, the Bund merged "patriotic" symbols with Nazi ideology, naming street corners after Hitler and his cronies, holding joint rallies with the Ku Klux Klan, and running summer camps where children wore swastika armbands.

The film focuses on the rise and threat of this fascist movement, revealing how tens of thousands rallied under banners that brazenly displayed the American flag beside the swastika. At their infamous 1939 Madison Square Garden rally, leaders denounced the “Jewish-controlled media” and espoused a vision for a racially “pure” America, highlighting the Bund’s public boldness.

Through meticulous archival research, interviews with historians and haunting images of the camps that still bear traces of Nazi insignia, the documentary explores the Bund’s connection with the Ku Klux Klan and its efforts to shape American politics, culture, and even childhood. "Nazi Town, USA" ultimately asks enduring questions about the boundaries of free speech, the allure of extremism, and the vigilance needed to protect democratic values.

    The Film runs 53 Minutes

    Art After Hours

    Artis-Naples Baker Museum

    A coed event

You and a guest are invited to take a one-hour Docent-guided after-hours tour of the Baker Museum's exhibitions of Sonia Louise Davis and Ansel Adams. Afterwards, join us in the courtyard for live music.

Wine, soft drinks, coffee, and snacks will be available in the courtyard for purchase.

Sonia Louise Davis - to reverberate tenderly:

"This multisensory exhibition and living environment for creative activity demonstrates artist Sonia Louise Davis's fascination with improvisation. Her inventive musical vocabulary of lines, curves, dots, rings and dashes is layered and repeated throughout the gallery, from textile-based soft paintings and a wall mural with neons to custom steel instruments-exploring the possibilities of a sonic space attuned to vulnerability and generosity."

    Discovering Ansel Adams:

"The exhibition features over 100 photographs that share Ansel Adams' most celebrated works while revealing aspects of his development that are frequently overlooked. Together, with original archival materials from the Center for Creative Photography, the photographs demonstrate how Adams transformed from a 14-year-old tourist with a camera into a celebrated photographer."
