999: The Forgotten Girls of the Holocaust

    Southwest FL Premier
    (trailer)

999: The Forgotten Girls of the Holocaust reveals the story of 999 young, unmarried Jewish women who, in 1942, were registered by Slovakian authorities for work opportunities in a purported shoe factory. They naively dressed up in their finest clothes for what they thought was a three-month stint and set off with neighbors and classmates for an adventure. In fact, the train they boarded was headed to Auschwitz. Incredibly, a few survived into older age and share their tale in 999.

Most of the girls were murdered, but a small group survived three and a half grueling years in the camps. The film focuses on the few that were still alive when the film was made in 2023. Their stories of survival are uplifting and inspiring.
